Acuity
- Type of atrial fibrillation:
- Paroxysmal-episodes end spontaneously within 7 days; most last less than 24 hours
- Persistent-episodes last more than 7 days; illustrates increased SOI
- Chronic (permanent) -AFib has lasted more than 1 year regardless if cardioversion attempted or not
Name
- Differentiate if patient has either AFib or atrial flutter or both
Necessary Procedures
- Persistent AFib may require cardioversion or pharmacologic intervention

- All comorbid conditions, underdosing of medications, tobacco history, etc.
