Progression
- Initial versus subsequent visit
- Date of the initial MI
- An initial MI is defined as occurring within the last 28 days
- The definition of a subsequent MI has changed in ICD-10
- It is an additional MI if it occurred within 28 days of a previous MI
- It is classified differently from an "old" MI (older than 28 days)

Name
- MI type-STEMI or NSTEMI
- If documentation does not specify the type of MI (STEMI or NSTEMI), the default is NSTEMI
Necessary Procedures
- Was tPA administered in the current admission (current facility)
- Was tPA administered in a different facility within 24 hours of admission to the current facility

Why
- Specify conditions following an MI-post infarction angina, thrombosis of atrium or ventricle, etc.
- All comorbid conditions, underdosing of medications, tobacco history, etc.
