Asthma
Progression
- When did disease process start
- Initial versus subsequent visit
Location
Acuity
- Mild intermittent, mild persistent, moderate persistent, severe persistent
Severe Persistent
- Continual symptoms
- Limited physical activity
- Frequent exacerbations
- Nighttime symptoms frequent
- FEV1 or PEF ≤ 60% predicted
- PEF variability > 30%
Moderate persistent
- Daily symptoms
- Daily use of inhaled short-acting beta2-agnostic
- Exacerbation of affect activity
- Exacerbation ≥ 2 times/week ≥ 1 day(s)
- Nighttime symptoms > 1 time/ week
- FEV1 or PEF 60-80% predicted
- PEF variability > 30%
Mild persistent
- Symptoms > 2 times/week but < 1 time/day
- Exacerbation may affect activity
- Nighttime symptoms > 2 times/ month
- FEV1 or PEF ≥ 80% predicted
- PEF variability 20-30%
Mild intermittent
- Symptoms ≤ 2 times/week
- Asymptomatic and normal PEF between exacerbations
- Exacerbations of varying intensity are brief (a few hours to a few days)
- Nighttime symptoms ≤ 2 times/ month
- FEV1 or PEF ≥ 80% predicted
- PEF variability < 20%
- With status asthmaticus (intractable, refractory)
Name
- Intrinsic asthma (nonallergenic)
- Uncomplicated with acute exacerbation
Necessary Procedures
- Interventions used to stabilize patient (nebulizers, inhalers, bronchodilators, etc.)
Other
