If you are not working at the hospital

  • DO NOT immediately come in. Depending on the duration of the emergency, you may be needed later to relieve a colleague.

  • Contact your supervisor and ask for his or her guidance.

  • Monitor the media for situation updates and determine how it a situation may affect your travel to and from work, and identify alternate routes.

  • Call the associate hotline (202-877-7595) and check the Hospital Center’s web site (www.medstarwashington.org) for information about the hospital status.

  • If you are called in, be prepared to stay at the hospital for several days.

If you are working at the hospital

  • Be prepared to stay at the hospital for several days. Depending on the situation, you may not be able to leave a secured campus

  • Keep your MWHC identification badge with you at all times. You may need it to show Protective Services as you enter campus.

  • Keep a change of clothing and toiletries with you in your vehicle.
