Hazardous Material Event

MWHC Emergency Department Hazmat Quick Start Instruction Sheet

In the event of a hazardous or toxic (HAZMAT) spill inside or on the campus of the hospital:

  • Evacuate the area

  • Close the door

  • Contact telecommunications, on ext. 7-6200 immediately

Telecommunications will contact the Life Safety Officer/ Designee on x7-6778 or pager 3918 immediately. The LSO/designee will respond to the incident.

Victims of chemical or hazardous material exposure with or without associated injuries may be brought to the MWHC by DCFD/EMS for secondary and/or definitive decontamination.
