Evacuation

As time permits, and based on the complexity of the evacuation required, consideration of the following should occur:

Stop the intake of patients

    Notify MD offices (blast fax/phone trees/pagers) that all admissions are cancelled.

Limit visitors and access to the facility at all entry points

Accelerate discharge of patients

    Coordinate all possible IP discharges with medical staff/Clinical Resource Management (CRM).

    Appoint Transport Leader (from MedSTAR Transport) to coordinate assets to assist in transport of patients out of facility and to interface with the DCEHC (if activated) for transportation issues.

    Consider communication to community via the media to enhance patient pick-up.

Assess vulnerable populations

Extra care and consideration should be given to the vulnerable populations within MNRH. These include:

    Dialysis Dependent Patients

    The dialysis unit will identify patients requiring dialysis, time/date of the last treatment provided and next anticipated treatment time/date. The medical record accompanying the patient will provide previous treatment orders.
